Oprah’s been on the air for 25 years. That means I was 9 when she took her stage. What a stage it has been.
I must confess, I was not an “Ultimate Viewer” of Oprah until season 25. I mean, I caught a show now and then, I always tried to tune in when big guests were scheduled to appear and I ALWAYS caught her “Favorite Things” show. It wasn’t until I had my beautiful baby boy and went on maternity leave in August of 2010 that I began to tune in every day. Thank goodness that I did.
Oprah has been a big inspiration to me this year… Today, her last show, was my most favorite show of all. Better than the free iPads; better than the free cars, and better than the hunky guy jumping on the couch professing his love for Joey. Today, I took notes.
She asked me today “What sparks the light in you?”
When referring to the ones I love, she told me to “Validate them. See them. Hear them. Tell them that what they say matters to me.”
She told me to “listen to the whispers in my life and ask myself what they are saying to me.”
I know for certain that Oprah has touched the lives of millions of people year after year for the past 25 years. This year she touched mine. Today, I take the three lessons, revelations, inspirations from above and I make this vow to myself – I will try my best to live these lessons every day for the rest of my life.
I may have been 25 years late to the party but I’m sure glad I made it before the final curtain call.
